# Facilitator

> A pre-built Copilot agent in Microsoft Teams that helps run a scheduled meeting: it keeps shared AI notes, tracks the agenda and captures follow-up tasks.

**Category:** Copilot

**Facilitator is the built-in agent for running a meeting, not for research or numbers.** Next to [Researcher](/glossary#researcher) and [Analyst](/glossary#analyst), it is one of the pre-built agents that come with Microsoft 365 Copilot. You turn it on for a scheduled Teams meeting, in the meeting options or during the call. It then keeps **real-time notes** that participants can co-author, posts the agenda, shows the agenda topics with a timer and captures follow-up tasks.

Adding Facilitator to a meeting needs a Copilot licence, and it only works in scheduled meetings, not in channel meetings, instant meetings or Teams calls. During the meeting you can @mention it in the chat to catch up on what you missed. If you want to ask it about the meeting afterwards, turn on transcription before or during the call.

## At work

A team lead adds Facilitator to the weekly planning meeting. The agenda runs as a timer on screen, and everyone leaves with the same notes and a list of follow-up tasks.

## Often confused with

Intelligent Recap. Facilitator works during the meeting, keeping notes and time; [Intelligent Recap](/glossary#intelligent-recap) is the summary, tasks and markers you open in the Recap tab afterwards.
