Scheduled task (ChatGPT)

Work you describe once that ChatGPT runs on its own: once, on a schedule, while watching for a change, or when an email, Slack message, or pull request arrives.

Describe once, then it runs You describe the task once, a time or event triggers it, ChatGPT runs it, and a finished result waits for you. Describe once save the prompt Trigger time or event ChatGPT runs it the whole job Result chat, push, email Run it by hand once before you schedule it.

A scheduled task turns a prompt into a routine. It can be one-time, recurring, monitoring (it checks for a change and stops when a condition is met), or event-triggered by a new Gmail message, a Slack channel message, or GitHub pull request activity. Event-triggered tasks run in Work and need Plus or higher.

You manage them on the Scheduled page. Business allows up to 10 active tasks. Tasks in the cloud run whether your laptop is on or not; tasks that need local files need the computer awake. A task made inside a project can't use that project's uploaded files.

Often confused with: A reminder. A reminder tells you to do the work; a scheduled task does the work and hands you the result.

See it in a lesson: Scheduling and automation
