Copilot

Copilot in PowerPoint

The Copilot built into PowerPoint that drafts a deck from a prompt, a document or your own template, then rewrites slides and speaker notes on request.

Copilot in PowerPoint turns three starting points into a draft deck A prompt, a Word file or your own template goes into Copilot, which produces a draft deck with slides, layouts and notes that you then refine slide by slide. Prompt Word file Your template Copilot Draft deckSlides, layouts, notes Refine slide by slide A first draft: you review it before it goes out

Copilot in PowerPoint builds and edits the deck itself. You can start from a prompt, through the on-canvas Copilot menu or the Copilot button on the Home tab, or from a Word document with Create presentation from file. With a branded template, Copilot can draft new content straight into your theme. Whatever it produces, you refine with the same menu: rewrite one slide, shorten a wordy one or change the tone of the speaker notes.

Treat the result as a first draft, not a finished deck. Building from a file or a template needs a Microsoft 365 Copilot work licence; Copilot Pro gives a more limited version. A prompt-built deck supports one output language, so an English and a Dutch version are built separately. For images and graphics, you switch to a separate app, Microsoft Designer.

Often confused with: Microsoft Designer. Copilot in PowerPoint builds the deck; Microsoft Designer is a separate app that makes single images and graphics you drop into a slide.
