Copilot

Copilot Studio

Microsoft's low-code studio for building agents and the automations around them, for when an Agent Builder agent needs branching logic, connectors or a trigger.

Copilot Studio picks up where Agent Builder stops Agent Builder leads to Copilot Studio, which has three building blocks: agents, workflows and agent flows. Studio adds branching, connectors, triggers and approval steps. QUICK AGENT Agent Builder need more? Copilot Studio Agents Workflows Agent flows Adds branching, connectors, triggers and approvals

Copilot Studio is where you go once Agent Builder hits its ceiling. It is the same product whether IT builds something tenant-wide or you build something for your own team. Its building blocks are agents (the conversational layer), workflows (drag-and-drop automations) and agent flows, which run on their own or as a tool an agent can call.

A Studio build can do what an Agent Builder agent cannot: branch on conditions, reach outside systems through connectors, run on a schedule or event, and pause for a human approval step. That extra power comes at a price. Studio-built flows and agents are metered in Copilot Credits, while agents that only use generative answers or standard Microsoft Graph grounding in Copilot Chat are not.

Often confused with: Agent Builder. Agent Builder makes a quick no-code agent you describe in a sentence, at no credit cost; Copilot Studio is the full low-code studio for agents that branch, connect to other systems and act on a trigger.
